For gamers, Christmas is a bittersweet time of year. It's the season for way too many games to come to market at the last minute, all vying for your holiday shopping dollar, all betting you won't look past the pretty box art. In other words, it's the season of Russian Roulette game buying; maybe you'll score a hit, maybe a total dud, netting you maybe a big fat whoop of thanks, maybe a groan and a screwy look that begs to question your grasp on what is cool and what is stupid. Videogame Publisher Electronic Arts and Universal Pictures are teaming up to bring EA's Army of Two game to the big screen. Considering the production crew signed on to do it, there's a decent chance it won't suck.
Surprise, most gamers aren't geeks
For some, it's hard to take the videogame industry seriously when all it conjures is images of boys playing virtual soldier shooting aliens on the spare TV in the basement. Thing is, that image hasn't been accurate for a decade or two. And now, a new Ipsos study shows it to be completely false. Go figure.
