StreamHD Wireless USB PC to HDTV Adapter
Wouldn't it be cool if you could plug your laptop into your HDTV but not have a bunch of wires and cables dangling all over the place? Oh wait, you can.

When it comes to streaming media, movies and TV shows on demand, many people are perfectly happy with their ubiquitous laptop computer to get the job done. After all, that's where everything else happens on top of Netflix et al - contacts, emails, spreadsheets, messaging, Plants vs. Zombies, and so on. Plus, a laptop is portable, usable on the bus or train, in the airport lounge, at the office, at the kitchen table. In a pinch, users can even tether said laptop to an HDTV at home or to the video projector in the conference room with an HDMI cable and/or VGA out adapter. A slapdash solution, sure, but it works in a pinch.

Now, if only there was an easy way to get a laptop connected to an HDTV without cords, that'd be icing on the highly productive cake... oh look, there is. It's Warpia's wireless PC to HDTV via USB solution, the StreamHD - SWP120A.

With this simple kit, an unobtrusive USB dongle jacks into a laptop and wirelessly transmits audio and video to a powered receiver, which you jack-in to an available HDMI port on your HDTV.

With a range of up to 10 meters (30 feet), this allows the laptop to sit properly on one's lap or coffee table to act as a full QWERTY controller and trackpad for all your multimedia surfing and viewing - and yes, playing Plants vs. Zombies on the huge screen.

On the down side, the two devices require line-of-sight to transmit and receive, so there's always going to be a couple chunks of geek on conspicuous display, ready for a juice box spill or whatever other shenanigans your TV room is known to endure.

Warpia also offers two lesser versions of the StreamHD. Its original Wireless Audio/Video Display Adapter (SWP100A) came out a couple of years ago lacking a catchy name and delivering stereo-only audio and video output limit of 720p (and it struggles with that). There's also a mid-range PC-to-TV wireless adapter, the SWP110A, also known as the StreamHD VE - which stands for "Value Edition" - that's also stuck with stereo audio but does deliver full 1080p HD.

The full meal deal of Warpia's StreamHD is probably overkill for most, offering HD-to-the-max at 1080p HD plus S/PDIF 5.1 Surround Sound.
