Just in time for fall, luxury bag brand, knomo, has released a new laptop brief, the Avignon. This slim, nylon, quilted brief is fashionable, comfortable, and provides an affordable alternative for those looking for a chic way to tote their laptop about town in style.

The Avignon's quilting adds protection while the nylon provides a gorgeous, textured exterior. A quilted-felt alternative is also available.

When you think quilted bags, your mind may conjure up images of proud and loud Vera Bradley bags, or those inexpensive quilted totes they sell in craft stores. Neither gaudy nor gauche, knomo has taken the quilted look and made it fresh and fashionable.

Designed to accommodate a 13 inch laptop and priced at US$99, the brief comes with two pockets, one in front and one behind, for papers, notebooks, agenda, magazines, and the like. The interior is made of a plush, felt fabric. The nylon Avignon comes in three elegant color choices: eggplant, berry, and black. Its felted counterpart is available in berry, purple, and gray. The Avignon is similar to knomo's popular Slim Laptop Sleeve, which has been spotted on the arm of Pippa Middleton, the U.K.'s latest fashion superstar, on more than one occasion. The princess' stylish sister was praised in InStyle Magazine for accessorizing her outfit with her knomo Slim. The Avignon, recently featured in the September 2011 issue of InStyle as a part of a current quilting fashion trend, is a bit sleeker than the Slim, and is currently only offered for 13 inch laptops. The Slim is available for both 13 and 15 inch laptops. But both bags are each trim enough to easily fit into another bag, providing an extra layer of protection for your traveling laptop.

Combining beauty with brawn, the Avignon is light and easy to carry, but it's not delicate and dainty. knomo is clearly proud of how tough their quilted bags are, and it should be. The vinyl exterior is easy to maintain while the plush interior just feels plain swanky.

However, the Avignon is merely a case in the briefest and slimmest sense; it will not provide room for bulky cords and laptop chargers. Extra storage space is minimal and overloading the front and back pockets with papers, magazines and, oh yeah, a power adapter, detracts from the sleek, put-together look knomo is becoming famous for.

But loaded with just the essentials, the Avignon provides a professional look, perfectly copacetic with the executive dashing off to work or the girl who wears heels to the coffee shop. On the other hand, women who run around town in sneakers and track suits look ridiculous wearing the Avignon, as this writer unfortunately found out.

For women who want style without sacrificing quality, the knomo Avignon is a great choice. While it might not hold a power cord properly (depending on the size of the thing), knomo nevertheless delivers a luxury bag that stands up to the rigors of the real world at an affordable price.
