Crazy Taxi 2 (DC)
Forget everything you ever learned in driver's education. Prepare to drive around, over, and (best of all) through everything - other cars and telephone booths, pedestrians and patio furniture - as you crash your way through the streets of New York City. Arcade action at its best, Crazy Taxi 2 pumps out some excellent 3D graphics - still putting competitors' consoles to shame - augmented with a high-paced, power-punk soundtrack. Forgoing the latest trend of increasingly complex gameplay, Crazy Taxi 2 returns to the more simplistic roots of the classics, games like Pac-Man, Asteroids and Donkey Kong, where all-immersive excitement is found though a rudimentary interface and with clear yet ornery play parameters. Hop in a cab, pick up a fare, and drive from point A to point B, repeat. Gameplay modus operandi doesn't get much more basic than this, or more fun. Crazy Taxi 2 does not offer an exceptional advancement over this first Crazy Taxi game, but it still makes for an excellent, mindless, rainy-day rental.
