LarryBoy and the Bad Apple
Though a hopelessly derivative third-person, platform-hopping, puzzle-solving, bauble-collecting adventure, LarryBoy and the Bad Apple does have one outstanding characteristic that sets it apart from all the other hopelessly derivative games of this ilk: LarryBoy himself.
If you're not familiar with VeggiesTales, the computer animated kiddie cartoons that soft-sells wholesome Christian values with snappy, witty sketch comedy featuring, of all things, vegetables, then all you need to know is this: Larry is a cucumber. Right there, funny.
LarryBoy is Larry the Cucumber's super-hero alter-ego acting out a morality play about the downsides of temptation incarnate, chocolate. LarryBoy sports multi-faceted toilet plungers on his head, LarryBoy can fly... flying cucumbers and skull-mounted grappling hook toilet plungers, more funny.
In fact, LarryBoy and the Bad Apple is impossible to dislike in spite of it B-grade game design. It offers low pressure adventuring for kids while conveying a blatant subliminal message that's only trying to sell virtuousness. Parents can join in, interact or at least watch without getting baffled and everyone's in for a good chuckle or three.
