On the heels of successful (yeah, right) web based linguistic experiments such as Esperanto, Austin-based Mikonoclast LLC has launched a website and a software tool that allow users to create a new way to express themselves using symbols, pictograms and icons they create. Words are so yesterday.

The mikons.com website and its embedded “Mikon Machine” allow users to bring together different symbols with traditional meanings – as well as some meaningless new ones – to craft symbols, avatars and emoticons with personal connotations that you can use in your daily communication with others… or not.

Imagine sending your bank a little picture of a man on his knees praying while his house gets taken away by a big giant hand, a single finger of suggestion to the ebay guy that scammed you, that sort of thing. Have fun.
