On Thursday, June 29, Nintendo of Canada Ltd. and Canstruction, a charity specializing in raising food bank donations by building sculptures out of cans, will build a giant Super Mario monument in downtown Toronto’s Dundas Square.
More than 4,000 cans totaling 2,600 lbs will be used to build the 10-foot-high structure. Afterwards, all the building materials (which consist entirely of cans of food) will be donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank. The can-tastic (ugh) stunt is in honor of the sales records set by Nintendo’s New Super Mario Bros. for its DS handheld platform.
