2007 WCG Canadian Championship in Toronto this weekend
This weekend, Toronto will be playing host to Canada's top gaming talent as more than 200 participants converge in the heart of the city for the 2007 World Cyber Games Canadian Championship. Gamers from across the country will be vying for valuable prizes and the chance to represent Team Canada at the World Cyber Games 2007 Grand Final this October in Seattle, Washington.
Highlights of the event will include:
- WCG World Champion Ryan Ward of Edmonton, who will be defending his title playing Dead or Alive 4 for Xbox 360
- WCG National Champion Nick "Testie" Perentesis, who will attempt to capture the gold medal in Starcraft: Brood War for PC for the fourth year in a row
- Elaine "Lainey" Kim of Toronto, who will be playing Half-Life: Counter Strike 1.6 with Team Invincible
- An open tournament in which up-and-comers can prove their gaming skills playing Need for Speed: Carbon for PC on Friday, August 24 (the winner will receive a free trip to the WCG Grand Final in Seattle, Washington)
Since 2000, World Cyber Games has been the world's biggest gaming competition and festival, attracting more than 800 competitors from approximately 70 countries. Dubbed the "Olympics of computer gaming," World Cyber Games brings the world's top players together to compete for cash prizes and global recognition.
