Casually cerebral gamers can once again don the glasses and bow tie of Lex the Bookworm as PopCap Games has released a sequel to its popular lexical game, Bookworm Adventures.
Bookworm Adventures Volume 2 will once again task players with controlling Lex as he battles his way through a series of literary worlds. The twist, of course, is that "battle" is done not with swords or guns, but with the written word, as players form words from an ever-changing set of letters in order to inflict damage on enemies.
The game spans three different books, each with a different theme: Fractured Fairytales, The Monkey King, and Astounding Planet.
Initially, these playable books will only be available in a US$19.95 bundle, but starting August 19, players will be able to download books individually.
The first Bookworm Adventures' blend of humor and addictive gameplay made it an award-winning hit, and the sequel looks to capitalize with more of the same.
Bookworm Adventures Volume 2 for PC is available for purchase and download on PopCap's web site at www.popcap.com - where a free trial is also available for those wary of taking the literary plunge - as well as Steam and iWin.
An iPhone version of the game is also available at the promotional price of $0.99 for one week, after which Bookworm Adventures Volume 2 for iPhone will cost $4.99.
