Furu Furu Park
Wii
Funny, but Majesco usually has a knack for instilling gameplay "value" into their "value priced" games. So it follows that Furu Furu Park begs the question: what the hell happened?
Painkiller: Overdose
Windows PC
If 2004's Painkiller made you giddy with hellfire catharsis, this expansion pack just might be the nostalgic revisit you need. That is to say, also, Painkiller Overdose sure feels like a 2004 game, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
PlayStation 3
Not actually the Gran Turismo 5 that has motorsport aficionados around the world all hot and bothered with anticipation. No, it's a "prologue," an interactive prolegomenon of the full game that still doesn't have a release date. A tease. But, oxymoronically, a tease that satisfies.
Endless Ocean
Wii
It was only a matter of time, but Nintendo is now targeting hippies, yogaphiles, transcendental meditators, New Earthians, peacemongers, and ripple-in-a-pond philosophers with this new interactive Quaalude under the sea.
Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds
PlayStation 3
The time-tested and player approved Hot Shots Golf series debuts on PlayStation3 as Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds. Practically a no-brainer... if you're into the whole 'brevity' thing anyway...
Condemned 2: Bloodshot
Xbox 360
Sometimes you can call excessive, gruesome, brutal violence "art." Sometimes you can call it Condemned 2: Bloodshot.
Condemned 2: Bloodshot
PlayStation 3
Intimately excessive violence has its place in videogames... the good ones, anyway. However, when violence for the sake of violence shows up like a 1st amendment protester who forgot to put his pants on, it's hard to take seriously. In fact, it's hard to take for anything other than lame attempt to make headlines.
Frontlines: Fuel of War
Xbox 360
Frontlines: Fuel of War just goes to show that you can teach an old dog new tricks, but it's still an old dog, and tricks, new or old, knick knack or paddywhack, are just a reason to give the dog a bone.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
PlayStation 3, Windows PC, Xbox 360
It could have gone some other way, but Rainbow Six Vegas 2 exemplifies the sequel done right. It's new but not radically different from the original, adding instead just a few key mechanics that you didn't know you wanted, subtle yet key and forever required hereafter.
MLB 08 The Show
PlayStation 3
Making great leaps forward from last year's Sony-made baseball game -- which had great potential but came off the bat as an double rather then a homerun --, MLB 08 for the PlayStation3 still doesn't not knock it out of the park, but it's a solid stand-up triple.
