Taiwan-based memory manufacturer Silicon Power just announced the world's first Compact Flash (CF) card with 128GB of storage capacity, the 400x 128GB CF for short. The new CF card has write speeds of 90MBps, a stupidly fast ideal for high-speed digital photography as well as HD video recording.

Silicon Power's 400X 128GB CF card is also said to support PIO Mode-6 and Multi-Word DMA 4 transfer mode in quad-channel configuration, which is geek-speak for compatibility with new-generation Digital SLR cameras that also shoot HD video.

Boasting the largest storage capacity on a CF card to date, the 128GB 400x CF also features Error Correction Code (ECC) functionality, purportedly enhancing data accuracy, and utilizes "Wear Leveling" technology to prolong the product's lifespan.

Sadly, the 400X 128GB CF card was only just announced; actual availability and pricing was not. However, "soon" and, being a "prosumer" product first and foremost, "several hundred dollars" would be good, educated guesses.
