In Canada, Sony and Rogers just announced a partnership whereby the wireless carrier gets to sell data packages to the new iteration of the under-performing PS Vita handheld game system exclusively.

Of the three or so people that care, those that might actually buy a 3G PlayStation Vita in Canada this fall will be able to access turn-based, asynchronous multiplayer gameplay, instantly updated rankings and leaderboards, immediate access to the latest downloadable add-on content, and real-time community news. In other words, do stuff on the PS Vita they can already to for free with built-in Wi-Fi, but now in spots where Wi-Fi isn't available, like Nahanni National Park.

For this added feature, Canadian consumers can spend $300 on a 3G version of the PS Vita - about $50 more than the current Wi-Fi PS Vita that nobody is buying - plus another $15 - $35 per month for a dataplan with Rogers.
